We are proud to announce that through the support of Circle K customers, colleagues, and dealer partners we have raised a total of €175,513 in much-needed funds for our charity partner, the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, in the first year of our two-year partnership with the children’s charity.
The funds raised to date will help support over 9,750 hours of in-home nursing care and respite support for Jack and Jill families in communities across Ireland.
The work we do in supporting and raising funds for Jack and Jill lies close to the hearts of everyone in Circle K Ireland.
Through ongoing nationwide fundraising drives across our 400+ stores, local community initiatives and office fundraisers, we strive to support The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation in their core mission.
Over our two year partnership, we have pledged to raise at least €270,000 for Jack and Jill, which will provide 412 Jack and Jill families with 15,000 hours of at home care across 26 counties and local communities.
WHO ARE THE JACK AND JILL CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION?
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation is a nationwide charity that funds and provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children with severe to profound neurodevelopmental delay, up to the age of six. This may include children with brain injury, genetic diagnosis, cerebral palsy and undiagnosed conditions. Another key part of Jack and Jill's service is end-of-life care for all children up to the age of six, irrespective of diagnosis.
The charity was set up by two pioneering parents 25 years ago in 1997 - Mary Ann O’Brien and Jonathan Irwin - based on their family’s experience, caring for their son Jack at home with the help of local nurses, until he passed away at home in Kildare at the age of 22 months on 13th December 1996. Jack’s home nursing care plan became the blueprint for over 2,700 children who’ve been supported by Jack and Jill since then, as Mary Ann and Jonathan vowed that no parents should have to walk this difficult care journey alone.
412 children are supported by Jack and Jill which is the highest number since the charity was established and the charity has extended its maximum hours per month to 80 hours per family.
WHY JACK AND JILL WAS THE RIGHT PARTNER FOR CIRCLE K
Judy Glover, Senior Market Development Director at Circle K Ireland: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation as Circle K Ireland’s new charity partner, we are proud to be partnering with an organisation that has such passion for improving the lives of children and the families who care for them.
Jack and Jill provide much needed in home nurses care for children that are suffering from severe brain trauma or injury, the nurses care allows families time to do “normal” things “the gift of time” with other siblings which is invaluable, Jack and Jill are a fantastic foundation with roots spanning to communities across Ireland, and a track record of success and putting people first.
As organisations, we work in different sectors, but we share some very important values, particularly Accessibility, Commitment, and Adaptability. We look forward to a long and happy relationship.”
Carmel Doyle, CEO at The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation added: "We are so proud to welcome Circle K into our community of local heroes who care. With an all-time high of 400 families under our care today, this partnership couldn’t come at a better time, particularly as we mark 25 years of Jack and Jill, determined to meet the growing demand for our service with your help.
As a local Irish children's charity, we are all about family, community and making life a little easier through our ongoing care commitment of up to 80 hours per month per family for up to 6 years. That is a big responsibility in terms of funding and delivery. Therefore, we are asking your staff and customers to shop local, support local and donate local, in the knowledge that their donation will support young children locally with specialist home nursing care, including end-of-life care. We believe there is no care like home care and with your help, we can keep Jack and Jill children warm, cosy and well cared for at home in their community, where they belong."
